Dragon S7 Special Edition 
I had been listening on a pair of PMC Prodigy 5 speakers for the last 18 months and I kept thinking that I was missing something. I could not quite put my finger on it. Then I accidentally knocked one of the speakers over accidentally not once but twice and had to send it out for repair. Around this time i went to the Australian HiFi show in Sydney and happend to listen to the Richter Speakers there. I came away with the feeling that these speakers could scratch that itch that I had with the PMC speakers. what a revelation ! I lean towards analog sound preferring R2R dacs to Delta Sigma Dacs and these Dragons play very well with the Denafrips Pontus Dac. With these speakers you forget the equipment and just enjoy the music.I must issue a warning that these speakers can be dangerous to one’s health as it is a real struggle to drag myself away from them and I find myself in front of them every spare moment that I have. Perhaps it is unfair to compare the PMC Prodigy5 to these given that the PMCs are half the price. However I am not going back to the PMCs as these Richter Dragons have got me in their spell !
I was at Sturman Electronics in March this year updating my AV receiver and centre speaker when they told me that Richter were having a demo day in a couple of weeks,I decided that I would update my Richter Wizards S3,I looked at their website and the Dragon S7 caught my eye, attended the demo day and met Brian and he had the Dragon S7 set up ready to go,listened for a half an hour.Sold.
I’ve the Dragon set up in my lounge and they replaced the Wizard S3,the difference is amazing, they are bi-wired and the clarity is over the top,not only do they look good they are SENSATIONAL.
I have been listening to the new Series 7 Richter Dragons since they landed here at home a couple of weeks ago.
I am no professional sound analyst or specs freak.
My credentials to comment are my 40 years in hi fi sales, the same time as Richters presence in the speaker trade, and more importantly, my love of music. So I’ll keep it brief and in music terms.
I was prepped by Brian, the owner of Richter, that I was going to be impressed by the latest edition, even though I had witnessed improvements with each model , having been a dealer since Richters inception. Yeah, I thought, a tweek here and a touch up there. I wanted to believe but when a product is already great, how can it be improved on?
Firstly, by unpacking the new arrivals and setting them on the included floor stabilizers. Had to sit back and just take in how visually stunning they look.
The curved cabinets with natural walnut timber veneer and all of the drivers with the “chrome “ embellishment, extended down to the stabilizers. The grills are still unopened. Blasphemy to cover the gorgeous array set into the smooth front baffle.
I connected them up to my Plinius amplified system, including a Bluesound Node X streamer and Oppo 203 ( CD and SACD fully capable ), with Audioquest cabling.
I had my preselected CDs lined up ready to judge the Dragons.
Supertramp’s Crime of the Century, my first choice as it has been one of my favourites since 1975. My latest version is on Blu-ray Audio, right up the Oppos capability.
Then Frampton Comes Alive ; then Lynyrd Skynrd – Street Survivors. Why these and not all audiophile recordings – because that’s the music I mostly listen to.
From my Tidal 470 Classic track playlist sampled a wide variety of timeless selections.
The result of my first arvo’s listening – I’m still re-discovering all my music daily.
The Dragons are the most impressive improvement to my hi fi systems in many years.
I am hearing my music like never before. And that is what it is all about. Not necessarily frequencies and graphs or selected “audiophile “ recordings. It’s about the music – what you listen to and how your system delivers it to you.
Thanks Richter for extending my music appreciation and as a bonus, making these floor standing speakers an ornamental presence in my living room.

I’m a proud and very, very happy owner of the Dragon S7 Special Edition speakers. I took delivery of them February, 2026 after waiting for the arrival of the new edition.
The build quality is really top of the line, they are an exceptional looking piece of furniture. The sound quality is next level – the best I have experienced which totally belies the price – have to be the best in the class. After three months constant use I highly recommend these speakers – they seem to just get better and better.
